African Nightcrawler

(Eudrilus eugeniae)

The sheen on the African Nightcrawler is uniformly purple-grey. The optimal temperature range for African Nightcrawler production is between 70° F/ 21 degree celsius and 85° F. Temperatures below 60° F or above 86° F for extended periods of time can be fatal. Maximum weight loss can be accomplished in 8-10 weeks.

The African nightcrawler, also known as the Prime Minister of Soil, is a master of soil formation. Because of its small size, this worm does not disturb roots.

It's a big fat slacker who wants food but leaves the work to other smaller worms! Because this type of worm has no teeth, you can plant your seeds or seedlings in the dirt that they create.

Because of its size and the fact that it does not need to be refrigerated, the African Nightcrawler has long been a favourite fishing worm. African Nightcrawlers are fantastic vermicomposting worms that are ideal for home vermicomposting and composting fibrous material like leaves. The African Nightcrawler, on the other hand, is more difficult to rear than the Red Wiggler or European Nightcrawler.

Good thing, this type of worm does not pose a risk to your pet.
